Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) has reached more than three million parents/caregivers over the past two decades. This twelve weekly two- hour parent education study group helps parents/caregivers learn effective ways to relate to their children. By identifying the purposes of children’s behavior, STEP also helps parents/caregivers learn how not to reinforce their children’s unacceptable behaviors and how to encourage cooperative behavior. The program offers concrete alternatives to abusive, ineffective methods of discipline and control.
The goal of Choices & Changes is to promote the well-being of high risk youth by educating them about the risks and consequences of alcohol/other drug use and abuse and by helping them to develop skills and a personal plan to avoid future problems. Choices & Changes is a two-part intervention program for individuals under the age of 21 who exhibit high-risk behavior, including alcohol/other drug related use and abuse. The program was created to provide 10 weeks of education-based intervention for all participants, as well as, a second phase of more intensive intervention for high-risk participants. A referral to the second phase of the program will be based upon the initial intake, ongoing evaluation and a one-on-one interview and assessment to be conducted at the conclusion of the education phase.
